Lyngdorf TDAI1120
Lyngdorf is about to release a compact RoomPerfect™ streamer with built in proprietary class-D amplification (2 x 120W RMS in 4 ohms: 2 x 60W in 8 ohms). The $2199 retail TDAI-1120 is compatible with virtually all streaming services. Music enters the box through Airplay 2, ROON, Bluetooth or Chromecast and can play music from your network and vTuner. That also means you can play files from network drives. A full version of the highly touted RoomPerfect™ is included but at a fraction of the price. With RP, you can enhance your stereo speakers or add 1 or 2 subs/boundary woofers to get perfectly timed base alignment. Like other stereo Lyngforf products, it includes the worlds best “preamp”… None! The volume knob turns the amp rail voltages up and down to adjust the volume. Therefore, everything remains in the digital domain. You aren’t listening to a compromised preamp design to meet a price point because it doesn’t have a preamp. Brilliant! Several digital inputs are in this small box including a single HDMI, which uses ARC. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel and allows your TV to stream audio to the Lyngdorf. This works with NETFLIX or any TV app via the HDMI connection. A phono, line-level RCA input, stereo RCA outputs, a trigger input/output, LAN connector, and USB port are included. Pre-orders are being taken now.
Lyngdorf MXA-8400
Lyngdorf is about to release a groundbreaking theater product utilizing Purifi Audio’s Class-D amplification. For those of you who have not heard, several of the smartest amplifier designers have partnered on this design; Including Bruno Putzeys (Ncore founder) and Lars Risbo (R&D at TI & Harman). Get a sneak-peak video below of Peter Lyngdorf giving an overview.
Purifi is the 1st amplifier that is indifferent to impedance, level, and frequency variations. Those three variables are the bulk reasons why amps sound different. The best test equipment struggles to measure the amplifiers impressive performance, i.e. THD+Noise measures 0.00015%. Intermodulation distortion is an order of magnitude below other amplifier tepologies.
The design paradigm comes by way of a novel use of negative feedback or NFB. It effectively reduces distortion and increases linearity. The MXA-8400 uses it’s own unique power supply with power factor correction and independent power supply (3.2 KW!!) for the analog audio and processing sections
Suggested Retail – $8K. I have one on preorder.
Highlights
- 8 x 400 watts of RMS power (4Ω)
- Expect reference auidiophile/videophile performance

- Insensitive to speaker loads
- Passive cooling – no fan noise
- Advanced integrated protection system
It’s shipping and the retail price is $50K. The Lexicon SL-1 SoundSteer system uses two active floor standing “adaptive” speakers. The platform uses powerful DSP array in order to control 33 loudspeaker drivers per speaker plus 23 large, active amplifiers. The advanced algorithm adjusts the location and size of the listening “sweet spot” in real time so the user can optimize the listening experience to suit their individual needs.
The speaker system is unique because it is a high-resolution wireless combined with the unique ability to beamsteer to your listening position using SoundSteer technology. To accomplish this feat, drivers are arranged in a 360-degree configuration around the Lexicon loudspeaker’s hourglass-shape. A detachable 4-panel grille has automatic EQ settings to envelop holographic imaging in multiple locations. Changed seats and you want a new sweet spot? No problem! Simply use the downloadable SoundSteer mobile device app to “steer” the audio anywhere you want it.
No need to buy more audiophile grade amps, preamps, or interconnects. I’ve heard the system and it sounds INCREDIBLE!
